LEXAN EXTRITE Polycarbonate Sheet

Most polycarbonate sheets fail long before they break. They scratch, haze, and yellow under the sun. LEXAN™ EXTRITE™ is engineered specifically to prevent that.

With a high-performance abrasion-resistant surface and dual-sided UV protection, EXTRITE™ delivers lasting optical clarity for outdoor glazing, transport infrastructure, signage, and industrial safety applications.

Kapoor Plastics is an authorised distributor of LEXAN™ polycarbonate sheets by Polyvantis across India.

What Is LEXAN™ EXTRITE™ Sheet?

LEXAN™ EXTRITE™ is a solid polycarbonate glazing sheet designed for environments where surface durability matters as much as structural strength.

Standard polycarbonate is impact resistant but its surface is vulnerable. In outdoor installations, this means progressive scratching from sand, dust, and maintenance activity, combined with UV-induced yellowing that reduces clarity over time.

EXTRITE™ addresses both failure modes in a single product:

The result is a sheet that looks and performs like new longer.

Available in two grades EXTRITE1 and EXTRITE2 to match different performance requirements.

LEXAN™ EXTRITE™ Sheet Performance Features

Surface Abrasion Resistance

Scratching is the primary cause of early replacement in outdoor polycarbonate. EXTRITE™'s protective surface layer resists damage from sand particles, dust abrasion, cleaning tools, and day-to-day handling preserving clarity and appearance throughout the installation's lifespan.

Dual-Sided UV Protection

UV degradation on single-coated sheets can cause yellowing, hazing, and brittleness depending on which side faces the sun. EXTRITE™ is UV-protected on both surfaces eliminating installation errors and ensuring consistent performance in any orientation.

High Impact Strength

EXTRITE™ retains the inherent toughness of polycarbonate - up to 250 times stronger than glass. It is resistant to breakage, impact, and vandalism, making it appropriate for public installations, transport glazing, and safety-critical environments.

Optical Clarity - Maintained Over Time

With light transmission of up to 90%, EXTRITE™ performs comparably to glass in transparency. More importantly, its abrasion-resistant surface helps retain that clarity over time unlike uncoated sheets that develop surface haze within months of outdoor deployment.

Chemical & Environmental Resistance

The sheet withstands exposure to common cleaning agents, industrial pollutants, and environmental contaminants. This makes it suitable for transport hubs, industrial facilities, and urban public installations that require regular maintenance.

All-Weather Stability

Tested for continuous outdoor use, EXTRITE™ maintains structural and optical performance across a wide range of temperatures, UV intensities, and humidity levels typical of Indian climatic conditions.

Cold Formable & Fabrication-Ready

Despite its surface coating, EXTRITE™ can be cold formed, cut, drilled, and machined using standard polycarbonate processing methods. This allows flexibility in project fabrication without requiring specialised equipment or processes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How is LEXAN™ EXTRITE™ different from standard polycarbonate sheets?

Standard polycarbonate provides impact resistance but has a soft surface that scratches easily and degrades under UV. EXTRITE™ adds an abrasion-resistant coating and dual-sided UV protection on top of the same impact strength making it significantly more suitable for outdoor and high-traffic environments.

What are the two grades - EXTRITE1 and EXTRITE2?

EXTRITE1 and EXTRITE2 differ in the level of abrasion protection offered. The appropriate grade depends on the specific wear conditions of your application. Contact Kapoor Plastics for a recommendation based on your project requirements.

Is LEXAN™ EXTRITE™ suitable for outdoor use across India?

Yes. The sheet is engineered for continuous UV and weather exposure and performs reliably across the climatic range found in India — including high UV intensity, humidity, and temperature variation.

What thickness should I use for my application?

Thickness selection depends on load requirements, span, and application type. Kapoor Plastics provides application-specific guidance as part of the quotation process.

Can EXTRITE™ be fabricated and installed using standard methods?

Yes. Despite its surface coating, EXTRITE™ can be cold formed, cut, and machined with standard polycarbonate processing equipment. Installation follows standard polycarbonate glazing practices.

Does the warranty cover both the material and the coating?

LEXAN™ EXTRITE™ carries a 15-year limited warranty covering key performance parameters. Full warranty terms and documentation are available on request.

Where can I buy LEXAN™ EXTRITE™ sheets in India?
